CytoSport Complete Casein Review

The protein supplement market has got a lot of options, however if you’re looking for a protein to aid you in recovery our sustained energy – you may want to look into Complete Casein.

CytoSport (the creators of MuscleMilk) developed Complete Casein as an alternative to Whey Protein Supplements for endurance athletes and those who are looking for a post-workout protein supplement.

How Does Complete Casein Work?

Casein is similar to Whey Protein in that they are both derived from milk. Whey is the powder processed from the liquid left in milk after the solids are removed. Whey is considered to be a great supplement for those looking to fuel muscle before, during and after a workout.

The problem with Whey is that it breaks down quickly giving you a quick boost before leveling out. Casein, on the other hand, produces a gel in the bottom of the stomach and intestines, which slowly fuels amino acids into the bloodstream, staying in your system for a prolonged period of up to 4-6 hours.
CytoSport recommends taking Complete Casein as a nighttime supplement or whenever you will be without food for extended periods of time. One scoop of Complete Casein mixes with 10-12 oz of water to form a protein shake.

Ingredients

Complete Casein combines Micellar Casein with Calcium and Sodium Caseinate. Micellar Casein is a product of milk which slowly dissolves into cells and increases strength and lean muscle over time. Both Calcium and Sodium Caseinate are high in the amino acids that act as a key fuel for athletes. Through these forms of Caseinate, Complete Casein guards against fatigue – both muscular and mental.

In addition to 18 amino acids including Arginine, Glycine, Glutamine and Phenylalanine, Complete Casein also provides you with minerals such as Salt, Potassium, Phosphorus, Magnesium and Zinc.

The other key to this formula is Aminogen, an enzymatic compound that separates amino acids from whole protein.

Will It Work For You

If you’re looking for a product to give you instant energy during a workout as well as performing afterwards, Complete Casein may not be right for you. This product is truly meant to be used during times when you will not be eating – such as just before bedtime.

Reviews on Complete Casein suggest that it does do the trick and is an effective protein supplement for those athletes looking to sustain energy over long periods of time.

This supplement gives you 25 grams of protein per serving and can definitely enhance muscle recovery. It comes in five different flavors (Banana Cream, Chocolate, Cookies N’ Crème, Strawberries N’crème and Vanilla Crème) but opinions were scattered on which was best.

If you don’t love the taste, continue to vigorously shake the mix until thoroughly dissolved – this seemed to improve taste for some.

What Does It Cost

One 2.05 lb Jar of Complete Casein retails for $54.49 and contains 30 servings. However the product is on sale at various online sites for much cheaper and can be found in the $30 range.

Is Complete Casein hype or is it worth it? CytoSport is a brand trusted by over 400 collegiate programs as well as professional triathletes, surfers, snowboarders, football and basketball players. They stand behind the product placing a note on every label that it is free of banned substances.

If you are looking for a protein supplement to aid you in recovery or while you’re sleeping – give Complete Casein a try.
